Head Masters Coach, Carol Nip
A graduate of San Francisco State University in Social Science with a year in the Public Relations Graduate Program at Golden Gate University, Carol has coached over 10 years. She has developed swimmers in age group, high school, and at the masters level.
Carol swam competitively at Queens High School in Kingston, Jamaica and returned to the pool when her three children began swimming with BEAR, a local USA swim team. Her impact on the community encompassed Team Manager, Meet Director for several long course meets, Junior Group Coach and eventually became BEAR's Interim Head Coach 2009-2011. Carol's passion for swim intensified as she coached her own high school kids and their teams over a 7-year commitment at Contra Costa Christian High School in Walnut Creek.
While coaching high school, Carol swam with Walnut Creek Masters, and flourished under her mentor, Head Coach Kerry O'Brien. Throughout the phases to becoming USA-S Level III and ASCA Level III certified, she finds that "It is not the things you get, but the hearts you touch that will determine your success in your Dash." Her commitments in Walnut Creek came to a close when her kids graduated in 2012, and a new door opened in Albany.
The Albany Armada Aquatic Masters swimmers lavish success on one another with belief, "People become really quite remarkable when they start thinking they can do things" (Norman Vincent Peale). Even visitors sense a welcoming friendship from this team. This has led to amazing achievements for swimmers, far beyond their dreams. This has also led to the honor of Carol's award as 2017 Pacific Masters Coach of the Year.
Carol accepted the invitation to Head Coach the Albany High School in 2017. She will again coach the high school for yet another year.
